The two $1000 fellowships are made available each year via a competitive essay contest. The fellowships are designed to ease the financial pressure of graduate school and being a counselor in residency. This year, the topic was “Therapy, Life, and Death.” Three VACC Board members (the Fellowship Committee) independently scored the essays via a standardized rubric.
The 2016 Winners are:
Jyotsana Sharma -- doctoral student at Virginia Tech
Caroline Strunk -- graduate student at George Mason University
Honorable Mention goes to:
Anne Metz -- JMU Counseling Doctoral Program
Chris Barnes -- graduate student at Longwood University
There were some very good essays among the 15 contestants, and we thank you for your effort, time, and inspiration. By next year, some of you will be licensed, but if you are not, we hope to see you in our contest. All the best to all of you!
